The Permanent Mission of Afghanistan together with the United Nations Women's Guild (UNWG) host morning coffee at the United Nations

The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the United Nations and other International Organizations together with United Nations Women’s Guild (UNWG) hosted a coffee morning in UN on March 1, 2016, in which more than 120 people from UNWG, Missions and International Organizations participated. H. E. Ambassador Dalil in her speech presented opportunities that Afghan women have had in the last years, namely the Afghanistan Constitution of 2004 where men and women are provided equal rights, and the progress Afghan women achieved in political, social and economical domains. H.E. Ambassador Dalil underlined the commitment of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in women’s empowerment, peace and development..

The event featured delicious Afghan cuisine with live Afghan Rabab played by well-known Afghan musician Ustad Arman.

The United Nations Women's Guild is an organization where international friendship and understanding continually grows; where women from more than a hundred countries share opportunities for recreation, learning and voluntary service; where fundraising activities to assist needy children are a primary goal.

The Guild welcomes and offers help to new arrivals to the United Nations community in Geneva and gives guidelines on the status of United Nations spouses for employment and pensions. Every month the UNWG with Permanent Missions in Geneva organize a coffee morning to enhance coordination and support to women.
