Ambassador Dalil meets Executive Chairman of World Economic Forum to explore investment and business opportunities in and through Afghanistan

On 23 February 2016, H.E. Dr. Suraya DALIL, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations based in Geneva met Professor Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum, the international lead organization for public-private cooperation.

H.E. Ambassador Dalil was welcomed by Professor Schwab at the main office of the World Economic Forum (WEF). Professor Schwab thanked for the participation of H.E. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, held on 20-23 January 2016 in Davos - Switzerland, in which 2500 World leaders, Ministers and elites from all over the world attended. Professor Schwab was keen to know more about the prevail conditions in Afghanistan such as economy, security and peace process between government and Taliban groups.

Ambassador DALIL expressed her appreciation for collaboration extended during the WEF annual meeting and the outcome of several side meetings between H.E. President Ghani and world political leaders and economical elites during the Forum. Ambassador DALIL briefed Professor Schwab on the government plan to leverage the strategic geographical location of Afghanistan as connecting point between Central Asia and South Asia and South Asia to Europe. Moreover, she illustrated on the current quadrilateral peace process and acknowledged the role of the Pakistan, the United States and China in peace talks.

Further, Ambassador DALIL invited a delegation from the World Economic Forum to visit Afghanistan to explore investment and business opportunities in and through Afghanistan. The Permanent Mission of Afghanistan in Geneva will be honored and ready to support such visit.
