Ambassador Dalil meets with H.E. Dr. Hala Hameed, Permanent Representative of Maldives

On 04th February 2016, H.E. Dr. Suraya DALIL, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the United Nations Office met with H.E. Dr. Hala HAMEED, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Maldives to the United Nations Office, at the Permanent Mission of Afghanistan in Geneva.

Prior to her appointment as Permanent Representative Republic of Maldives to the United Nations, H.E. Dr. HAMEED served as Minister of State for Law and Gender, who was entrusted with the responsibility to empower women socially, economically and politically. Both Ambassadors expressed the readiness in engaging and working together in all mechanisms of the United Nations, particularly in the Human Rights Council and events concerning women and their inclusion in all discussion in International Geneva.

Ambassador DALIL while praising the work that H.E Dr. HAMEED has carried out during her assignment as Minister of State in the area of women empowerment and their role in decision-making, spoke about the International Geneva Gender Champions initiatives and added that it is an excellent platform to discuss and move on gender issues.

Both Ambassadors agreed to seek opportunities to further strengthen ties at the Geneva level and expressed their commitment to cooperate in all United Nations mechanism and other International Organizations based in Geneva.
