Ambassador Suraya Dalil meets H.E Ms. Carole Lanteri, Permanent Representative of Monaco to the United Nations and the Co-Chair of the Polio Partners Group (PPG).

On 25th of November 2015, H.E Ambassador Suraya Dalil, Permanent Representative of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the United Nations Office in Geneva met H.E Ms. Carole Lanteri, Permanent Representative of Monaco to the United Nations and the Co-Chair of the Polio Partners Group (PPG) in her office.

Ambassador Lanteri, while congratulating Ambassador Dalil on her appointment as Afghanistan’s Permanent Representative said, “in your capacity as former Minister of Public Health you have done commendable work in the area of polio eradication, as victim of polio virus and how you survived, you are a good testimony for the PPG team. We are confident your experience will enrich the global effort on polio eradication”.

Ambassador Dalil stated that polio eradication has been a top priority for the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and over the last decades Ministry of Public Health has made a notable progress in the health sector in increasing immunization coverage and eradicating polio virus. The Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has introduced innovative vaccination programs, strengthened cross border coordination with Pakistan and engaged with multi stakeholder in high-risk districts of Afghanistan.

Ambassador Dalil furthermore expressed her willingness to coordinate with the leading partners of polio eradication in their efforts in eradicating polio globally.
