30th SESSION OF THE HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL

The United Nations Human Rights Council held its 30th regular session from 14 September to 2nd October 2015. H.E Ambassador Joachim Rucker, President of the Human Rights Council, in his opening remarks stressed on the importance of Civil Society in the United Nations Human Rights Council.
H.E Mr. Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, United Nations High Commissioner in his statement expressed his concerns about the International Community’s failure to address the situation in Syria and other areas in the conflict. He thanked countries for their commendable work in hosting refugees and likewise called upon all States to fully commit to the Human Rights recommendation by the United Nations Mechanism. H.E Mr. Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein stated that, the abuses by ISIL remain a serious concern, and we urge in the strongest possible term an immediate end to the devastating obstruction of humanitarian aid to the people of Syria and Yemen.

Mangala Samaraweera-Foreign Miniser of Sri-Lanka, Roberto Campa-Undersecretary for human rights, Ministry of the Interior of Mexico and Hugo Swire-Minister of State in the Foreign Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom also delivered their statements in the opening of the 30th Session of the Human Rights Council. In the General Debate, Delegations expressed their concerns about migration and refugee crisis that has confronted the world with failure in ensuring the realization of the human rights.
