On 19 September 2015, Embassy and Permanent Mission of Afghanistan to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva commemorated the Martyrs Day. The event brought together Afghans from all Switzerland to pay homage to all martyrs who scarified their lives for the freedom of Afghanistan.

Mr. Azizullah Omar, Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Afghanistan while thanking the participants valued the efforts of the Afghan Martyrs, particularly, the national hero of Afghanistan Ahmad Shah Masood and Professor Burhanuddin Rabbani who scarified their lives for freedom and national sovereignty of Afghanistan. He further added that, the people of Afghanistan honor and pay tribute to all the martyrs who lost their lives for the independence, peace and stability of Afghanistan.

Commemorating this day is an expression of the strong commitment of the Afghan people to continuously build upon previous achievements and towards an independent, united and prosperous Afghanistan, that should be free from terrorism and other threats.
